TV linked to attention problems From my letter in today's Globe and Mail Toronto -- As a parent of a young child, I couldn't agree more about the negative effects of television (TV Linked To Attention Problems -- April 6). Children need people to interact with, not a flickering screen. Parents should take the $50 a month spent on cable and buy craft supplies or a soccer ball. They should get books from the library and read to their children. Books are slow and peaceful, television is fast and frantic. Life is too wonderful for a child to waste in front of a TV.
